Terms of Use, Artwork Specs & Product Care

Please Choose Wisely

At Phreaze Factory Custom Prints, we want you to love your custom products. We do our best to recommend suitable products, materials and printing methods based on the information you provide.

Different products, materials and printing methods are designed for different purposes. Some are intended for long-term, regular use, while others are better suited to low-use applications where appearance is the priority, such as stage performances, events, costumes or special occasions.

Different vinyls and fabrics also wear differently. The garment itself can affect the final result, particularly where lower-quality or customer-supplied garments are used.

Please read the relevant product description, specifications, material information, warnings and care instructions before ordering.

If you are unsure which product, material or print method is best for your intended use, please contact us before ordering. We are happy to help where we can.

The customer is ultimately responsible for selecting a product suitable for their intended purpose unless an alternative has been specifically agreed with us before production.

If you require a product for a specific environment, high-use application, commercial purpose, outdoor exposure, frequent washing or long-term use, we strongly recommend contacting us before placing your order.

Custom & Personalised Products

All custom and personalised products are produced specifically for each customer and require materials, preparation and production time.

Because of this, custom products cannot generally be returned simply because you have changed your mind or selected the wrong size, colour, material, print method or other option.

Customers are responsible for checking all selections and information supplied at the time of ordering.

If we provide a proof or design approval, you are responsible for carefully checking the proof before approving production, including:

  • Spelling and wording

  • Sizing

  • Colours

  • Print placement

  • Artwork

  • Other design details

Orders created through our online design tool are considered final proofs.

If we make an error in producing your item contrary to the approved order or specifications, please contact us. Where applicable, we may replace the item, provide store credit or issue a refund.

Garment Printing & Care

Vinyl Garment Prints — Cut Only

Cut-only vinyl designs are cut from polyurethane or other suitable heat-transfer vinyl and heat-applied to the garment.

This process is generally limited to a number of solid colours per design and requires suitable artwork, preferably a vector file. We can provide a vectorising service for an additional fee, with basic text sometimes able to be prepared at no additional cost.

Vinyl prints can be highly durable and long-lasting when correctly applied and cared for. However, different vinyl products have different characteristics, flexibility, durability and expected lifespans.

For example:

  • Mirror/metallic vinyl has a foil-like appearance and can be more susceptible to cracking in areas that are regularly stretched, bent, rubbed or sat on.

  • More flexible and durable vinyl, such as Premier Black, may be better suited to garments receiving regular use.

Some vinyls are primarily suited to appearance and short-term or low-use applications, including stage performances, events, costumes and special occasions.

Vinyl Care

  • Follow the care instructions supplied with your product.

  • Turn garments inside out before washing where possible.

  • DO NOT iron directly over the vinyl print.

  • DO NOT expose vinyl prints to extreme heat.

  • Excessive heat can cause bubbling, warping, cracking or peeling.

  • Avoid unnecessary rubbing, stretching and friction over the printed area.

  • Avoid harsh detergents, bleach and aggressive washing conditions.

  • Where possible, avoid tumble drying or excessive drying temperatures.

Printed vinyl may gradually fade with washing and general use. This is a normal characteristic of printed materials and does not necessarily indicate a product fault.

Damage caused by incorrect care, excessive heat, misuse, friction, stretching, washing, drying or general wear and tear is not considered a product fault.

Vinyl Garment Prints — Full Colour

Full-colour vinyl printing allows unlimited colours and photo-style artwork. Designs are printed using specialised inks onto printable vinyl before being cut and heat-applied to the garment.

Printed inks may gradually fade with washing and general use.

For high-use garments, uniforms or logos where long-term durability is important, cut-only vinyl may be recommended where suitable.

The expected lifespan of printed vinyl depends on the material used, design, garment, placement, frequency of use, washing, drying, friction and general wear.

DTF Prints — Full Colour

DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing allows detailed, full-colour artwork, including designs with complex backgrounds, fine details and transparent areas.

DTF is particularly useful for artwork that is unsuitable for cut-only vinyl or requires more complex colour reproduction and background removal.

DTF prints are durable when correctly cared for but are not indestructible. Their appearance and lifespan will depend on garment use, washing, drying, stretching, friction and general care.

Large solid areas of print, fine details, very small text, heavily layered artwork and designs placed in areas subject to significant stretching or friction may show signs of wear over time.

DTF Care

  • Follow the garment and print-care instructions provided with your order.

  • Turn garments inside out before washing where possible.

  • Avoid excessive heat.

  • Do not iron directly over the DTF print.

  • Avoid harsh detergents, bleach and aggressive washing conditions.

  • Do not scrub, scratch or excessively rub the printed area.

  • Avoid tumble drying where possible, as heat can reduce the lifespan of the print.

  • Allow garments to cool and settle after washing before stretching or wearing.

DTF prints may crack, peel, fade or show signs of wear if exposed to excessive heat, friction, stretching or incorrect washing/drying.

Damage resulting from incorrect care or normal wear and tear is not considered a product fault.

For highly detailed or complex artwork, we may contact you before production if we believe adjustments are required to achieve a suitable result.

Canvas Prints

Colour & Display

We do our best to reproduce colours accurately; however, screens, devices, printer settings and materials can affect the final appearance.

  • Matte finishes generally appear softer and can be well suited to skin tones.

  • Gloss finishes generally produce brighter and more vibrant colours.

For greater longevity, avoid displaying canvas prints in direct sunlight.

Decals & Signage

Decals and signage may be produced using different materials and printing processes depending on the product, design and intended application, including indoor or outdoor use.

Where a product is supplied for DIY application, application instructions will be provided where applicable.

Before applying a decal or sign, ensure the surface is:

  • Clean

  • Dry

  • Smooth

  • Suitable for the material being used

The final result can be affected by surface condition, cleanliness, temperature, application technique, moisture, weather and other environmental factors.

We cannot guarantee adhesion or lifespan where a product has been incorrectly applied or applied to an unsuitable surface.

For outdoor applications, UV exposure, weather, surface type, placement, cleaning, temperature and other environmental conditions can affect appearance, adhesion and lifespan.

As a general guide, many outdoor signage products may last approximately 3–5+ years, while indoor signage may last considerably longer depending on where and how it is installed.

This is an estimated lifespan only and is not a guarantee or warranty period.

Where applicable, full-colour printed signage may include a clear protective laminate for additional durability.

Artwork & Image Quality

Customers are responsible for providing artwork that is suitable for the selected product and printing method unless artwork preparation or design services have been purchased from us.

We will work with the artwork supplied, but low-resolution or unsuitable files may result in a blurred, pixelated or otherwise imperfect print.

If using the DTF gangsheet builder, it will tell you if the quality of your image is suitable. For other print methods, email your artwork to customprints@phreazefactory.com for a quick check before ordering if you are unsure.

Recommended Artwork Specifications

Resolution

  • Images should ideally be at least 150 DPI or approximately 1200 pixels on the longest side.

  • CMYK colour mode is recommended rather than RGB.

File Formats

  • Vector files such as .ai and .eps are preferred, particularly where a background needs to be removed. 

  • .png and .jpg files may print with a white or other colour background depending on the selected product and printing process, even if they appear transparent online. .png is fine for DTF gangsheets however and will not print a white background if the background is transparent on the image file. How it appears in the DTF gangsheet builder, is how it will print in the real world.

  • .svg and .pdf files can contain vector artwork, but not all SVG or PDF files are actually vector files.

Bleed & Cutting

Where applicable, allow at least:

  • 3mm bleed around artwork

  • 2mm cutting tolerance

Artwork Problems

Where customer-supplied artwork is low-resolution, heavily detailed, excessively fine, unsuitable for the selected printing process or otherwise difficult to reproduce, we may contact you before production.

Some artwork may require modification, simplification or a different printing method to achieve an acceptable result.

Copyright & Artwork Rights

By ordering custom printing, you confirm that:

  • You own the artwork or design; or

  • You have permission or the appropriate rights to use it.

You accept responsibility for any copyright, trademark or other intellectual property infringement arising from artwork you provide.

Phreaze Factory Custom Prints does not accept liability for unauthorised use of images, artwork, logos or other intellectual property supplied by the customer.

Any copyright or intellectual property enquiries relating to customer-supplied artwork will be referred directly to the customer.

Natural Wear & Tear

Printed garments, decals, signage and other printed products will naturally experience wear over time.

Fading, cracking, peeling, abrasion or other deterioration caused by normal use, washing, weather exposure, friction, stretching, age or environmental conditions is not necessarily a product defect.

The expected lifespan of a product depends on how, where and how often it is used, as well as the materials and printing method selected.

Products intended for low-use or appearance-focused applications may show wear sooner than products specifically designed for regular or heavy use.

Returns, Faults & Customer Care

Because our products are custom-made, we cannot generally accept returns where a customer has simply changed their mind or selected an incorrect option.

If you believe your product has a manufacturing or production fault, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible with details of the issue and photographs where appropriate.

We will assess the issue to determine whether it is:

  • A manufacturing or production fault

  • An error in our production against the approved order

  • An issue with customer-supplied artwork or specifications

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Damage caused by incorrect care, washing, drying, application or use

Where an error or fault is determined to be our responsibility, we will work with you on an appropriate resolution, which may include replacement, store credit or a refund where applicable.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other applicable New Zealand law.

Acceptance of Terms

By placing an order with Phreaze Factory Custom Prints, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the relevant product information, specifications, warnings and care instructions and agree to use and care for your product accordingly.

You also acknowledge that different products and printing methods have different characteristics, durability and expected lifespans.

We reserve the right to contact you before production if we believe your selected product, artwork or printing method may not be suitable for your intended use.

Our goal isn't simply to produce your order — we want you to order the right product for what you actually need.
